Praga Caput Regni

Charles IV was crowned King of Bohemia and ruler of the Holy Roman Empire. From his Prague castle, he oversees the construction of new fortifications: a bridge over the Vltava, a university and a cathedral within the castle walls. Prague is already one of the largest cities in Europe. King Charles will make it the capital of an empire! In Praga Caput Regni, players take on the role of wealthy citizens who organise various building projects in medieval Prague. By expanding their wealth and participating in construction, they gain favour with the king. Players choose from six actions on the board that are always available, the "action crane", but weighted with a constantly changing set of costs and benefits. With these actions they can increase their resources, improve the strength of their chosen actions and build the "New Prague City", the Charles Bridge or city walls. They may be able to take additional actions or even participate in the construction of St Vitus Cathedral. Clever players will discover synergies between carefully timed actions and the rewards of creating civic projects when all the mechanisms interlock. At the end of the game, the player who has impressed King Charles the most wins.
